Defender who played two games early in 1934 and was allowed to end the season playing for Alphington. Meehl played regularly as a follower or backman in 1935, but his 1936 campaign was reduced to five games due to a toe injury. An ankle injury in a 1937 pre-season game became infected and kept him out for the whole season. He had to undergo several operations and have bone removed from his toe. Meehl played one more game in 1938.

In Round 15, 1935 he played a game with a splinter of glass in his eye. The day before a lightbulb he'd been adjusting exploded but he didn't realise the glass had entered his eye until after the match.

Joined Terang as Captain/Coach in 1939 but resigned midway through the year to return to the city.

Before travelling to Melbourne, Meehl had been a rugby league player in Sydney.
