Career statistics
1940 pre-season full-back who had been the 1939 captain of Uni Blacks and the Victorian amateur representative team. He opted to sign for Richmond instead, though Hawthorn also tried to claim him as he'd lived in their zone two years earlier and trained at Glenferrie Oval.
Went on to play 42 games for Richmond between 1940 and 1943, appearing in a premiership in his last year. During this time he served in the army, and in 1942 he trained with Melbourne again before returning to the Tigers.
Also a district cricket player for University and Hawthorn-Malvern. He later served as president of the Victorian Cricket Association and Treasurer of the Australian Cricket Board.
His grandson Stuart played with Richmond in 1993.
