DOB: 29 October 1959
Moved into coaching after 195 games with Hawthorn and St. Kilda, during which time he had won a premiership with the Hawks.
Having coached the Dandenong (then Southern) Stingrays in the first season of the TAC Cup Russo then joined Melbourne as an Assistant Coach in 1993 and won the Reserves premiership at his first try. This makes him the last coach to take Melbourne to any sort of premiership. He was interview for the vacant Hawthorn coaching job that year but was unsuccessful.
Russo coached the reserves through 1996 but was axed after a football club review at the end of that year. He then moved to St Kilda as Reserves coach and assistant to Stan Alves but left the club along with Alves at the end of 1998.
