1936 pre-season player after winning the best and fairest award in the previous year's Drapers League. Also a Prahran cricketer, and joined the Prahran VFA side after failing to make Melbourne's list.
He won the VFA's Best and Fairest award in 1937, and played in a Prahran premiership. He remained in Melbourne's residential area, and was cleared to St Kilda in April 1938, where he played 56 games across nine seasons. He also served with the Army during World War II.
