Alan Stockdale

Alan Stockdale DOB: 21 April 1945

Offered the job as President of a merged Melbourne Hawks side in 1996, Stockdale's appointment was vetoed by Premier Jeff Kennett who would not allow his State Treasurer the time away from his job to take up the role. After the merger failed, Stockdale was co-opted onto the Melbourne board in 1997 and served as a director until May 2001. He then resigned as part of a peace deal upon the appointment of Gabriel Szondy to replace Joseph Gutnick.

Stockdale reemerged as a potential President of the club in 2013, announcing he had formed a ticket to seek the role. The club did not adopt his candidacy, and Glen Bartlett was elected without a vote.
