In their first official practice match of the season, Melbourne travelled to Adelaide and outplayed longterm rivals Adelaide for three quarters. The Crows had the better of the early stages, keeping the ball locked inside Melbourne's defensive 50 but unable to score, before conceding two quick goals. Kate Hore kicked two of her three goals in the second term, and the visitors were 26 points up at half time without Adelaide kicking a goal.
The Crows had their best term in the third, booting five goals to two but could only kick a point in the final term.
