With the final five already decided with three games to go the Demons travelled to Perth to sort out who would be playing in the elimination final and who would be playing the last two weeks of the season for a shot at the double chance.

It was the first victory by any travelling side in Perth for over a year, and Brian Wilson controversially gestured 'triumphantly' towards the Eagles fans at the final siren after earlier having to be removed from a heated radio interview by Rod Grinter.

Best were Stynes, Yeats and Obst.
