1983 Practice Match vs Hawthorn

Saturday 12 March - Waverley

Hawthorn 5.7, 9.8, 14.13, 19.14.128
Melbourne 2.3, 2.5, 7.10, 10.11.71

Hawthorn won by 57 points

Goalkickers: Bamblett 3, Healy 2, Moore 1, Jarrott 1, Fidge 1, Battiston 1, Elshaug 1

After their big win against Sydney, the Demons came down to the earth. There were encouraging performances from recruits Russell Richards and David Williams, but Barassi was less enthusiastic about Peter Moore and Kelvin Templeton, saying they "did ok" and "did alright" respectively, but did note it was Templeton's first full game since August.

He said there were a few 'big heads' in the team that had been cut down to size and vowed to show the team a replay to demonstrate where they went wrong.

Robert Flower (concussion) and Steven Icke (bruised knee) were injured.

Notes
Roger Ellingworth and Rodney Wright may also have been injured.
