Biggest loss at Traeger Park

After seemingly rebooting their season with a win the previous week, Melbourne started their Alice Springs home game well, leading 13-0 early in the first quarter. From there they were obliterated, Fremantle kicked the last five goals of the opening term, and a six goal to one second left them 50 points ahead at the half. It didn't get any better from there, and late in the final quarter the margin touched 100 points. Late goals from Tom McDonald, thrown forward as an emergency measure after the forward line had been thrashed, reduced the margin to 92, narrowly avoiding their biggest loss against the Dockers.

The result ended a streak of finishing inside the top eight every week since Round 1, 2021.

Best were Petracca, Gawn, and Langdon. Taj Woewodin replaced Lachie Hunter (leg) at half time.
