Biggest loss against Fremantle

Midway through the first quarter the Dockers were 16-0 in front on Inside 50's, leaving Melbourne scoreless. The Demons eventually scored two points for the term, avoiding a scoreless first quarter but apart from a purple patch at the end of the second term when they kicked three goals in a row they found it almost impossible to score.

With the game already won at three-quarter time the Dockers inflicted more misery in the last term with six goals to one to condemn Melbourne to yet another 90+ point loss. It was Melbourne's biggest loss against Fremantle, extending the record set earlier in the season and their third straight match against the Ross Lyon led Dockers where they had failed to score 50 points.

Best were Viney, Trengove and McDonald.

Aaron Davey replaced Sam Blease at the second quarter when Blease suffered an ankle injury. James Strauss (shoulder), Shannon Byrnes (foot)) and Jake Spencer (arm) also suffered injuries - leaving the Demons without any players on the bench in the last quarter.
