Utility who won the Saints best-and-fairest in his 1982 rookie season but never recaptured the same form and left St Kilda at the end of 1986. He managed just one early season game with the Demons in 1987, played in the night premiership, but was dropped for the next match and retired shortly after. By the end of May 1987, Kiel was playing for a Victorian Country representative team.
Kiel's nephew Haydn was drafted as a rookie by Brisbane in 2008 but did not play a senior game.
