Joined Springvale in 1986 where he never played a game due to a serious injury that ended his VFA career. He suffered a broken skull in a practice game against Box Hill, saved from further damage by a foam bicycle helmet he wore after suffering what was first thought to be a broken neck in a game two years earlier.
