The half-forward who was credited with inventing the banana kick debuted for the Tigers in 1966 after captaining their Under 19s side the previous season but missed the entire next year with a knee injury.
He joined the Demons in 1969, but despite impressing with nearly two goals a game further knee injuries curtailed his senior football career and he retired to concentrate on a first class cricket career which saw him play with Victoria from 1969 to 1976 and Tasmania from 1977 to 1980.
