A week before the Demons had fought out a modern classic with Essendon but didn't look the same side. Without late withdrawal David Neitz they were nowhere near their best and the Dogs seized the advantage by kicking four early goal.
From there they were rarely troubled, and with the game over at the last change the Dogs hammered home their advantage en route to a big win.
Best for Melbourne were Yze, Viney and White.
