Ex-Essendon player who appeared for Melbourne in the 1954 end-of-season exhibition game against a North-Eastern combination. He had been captain of Wangaratta Rovers for two seasons.

Dale did not play any senior games for the club, reemerging with the Bombers at the start of 1956 before transferring to St Kilda the same year. Later played for Belgrave, Oakleigh and Mount Waverley.
