The Demons were poor under lights in the first quarter, conceding eight goals. The game changed complexion in the second when they booted 7.8 to three behinds to take an 11 point lead into half time. They went further ahead in the third quarter before withstanding strong pressure in the last to advance in the tournament.
Best were Hardeman, Bourke and Davis. McKenzie - who had come into the selected side late - replaced Alves during the game.
