William Knox

1904 pre-season follower. He returned to his school team during the year.

Knox served with the Australian Field Artillery before the outbreak of World War I, and fought when the the conflict started, landing at Gallipoli in September 1915. Two months after being awarded the Military Cross for bravery in 1917, he was severely wounded in Belgium and died of his wounds three days later.

Knox's father was the first Federal MP for the seat of Kooyong, and his grandson Ted Baillieu later served as Premier of Victoria.
