1962 pre-season wingman and Victorian junior half-mile running champion. He played a practice game with Melbourne, then went to South Melbourne and impressed there. His father Tammy had played for South Melbourne from 1918 to 1924.

After suggesting he was undecided about which team he'd sign with, he joined South, who had found him a job.

At Mordialloc from 1965 to 1969.
