Ruckman who was a member of the Calder Cannons 2004 TAC Cup premiership side along with Lynden Dunn. He was invited to the draft camp that year but not selected and returned to the TAC Cup.

Neaves overcame a fractured collarbone early in 2005 to play for the Victoria Metro side where he was understudy to Robert Warnock.

Held the first ruck spot at Sandringham in 2006 and showed promise but couldn't graduate to the AFL. Played in the Zebras premiership side that year, and featured in 36 games in total for them before moving to the SANFL to play for West Adelaide.

Joined the Northern Bullants VFL side in 2009 and played in their 2010 Grand Final side. In 2011 he played for Old Scotch in the VAFA, and won best and fairest awards at Shepparton United in 2015 and 2018.
