Signed during 1980 as one of Tasmania's most promising ruck/rovers. Melbourne beat several other league clubs to Curran's signature. They won a clearance for him at the end of the season and he played Under 19s from 1981 to 1983, also as a defender.
Returned to Launceston and played in premierships in 1985 and 1990.
