Ian Ridley shocked fans by making ten positional changes from the team that had been named in Friday night, and at the end of the first quarter it looked like he'd have been better off keeping the side as named.

The Pies took a three goal lead into the first change before Melbourne came to play. By halftime they were less than a goal behind, but it was the third quarter that got the Magpies over the line. For the second time to that end of the ground they were dominant, booting 8.2 to 0.2 to ruin the game as a contest.

Melbourne were dominant in the last but 4.7 to 0.2 wasn't enough to get them back into the match.

Best were Biffin, Ditterich and Callery. McSpeerin and Morgan were replaced by Osborne and Dilnot respectively during the last quarter.
