Melbourne win by 11 points

Goalkickers: Arthur Britt 2, Vin Coutie 2, Les Rainey 2, George Cathie 1, Jack Leith 1

Milestones:
Only game and first goal
Arthur Britt

Britt became one of the few footballers in league history to play one game and kick more than one goal, and his two goals were the difference for Melbourne. His side were quicker on the ball but lost in the rucks and in marking.

Melbourne had the better of the midfielders though, and they were taking their opportunities on goal better to win.

Best were Hocking, Moodie and Cathie. Gardner suffered an injured ankle late in the day.
