Round 17, 1935
St. Kilda vs Melbourne
Saturday 31 August
Venue: Junction Oval
St. Kilda win by 12 points
Goalkickers: Ron Baggott 5, Eric Glass 5, Percy Beames 3, Norm Smith 2, Ray Wartman 1
After a battling draw with premiership fancies Collingwood a week earlier, Melbourne continued their good form in the first quarter of their next match but quickly fell away. They kicked six goals for a second time at the same end in the third quarter, but unlike the first term when they kept their opponents goalless this time they conceded six.
It didn't help that they took Allan La Fontaine and Jack Mueller into the game half fit instead of fielding replacements.
Best was Beames.
Melbourne 14.11.95 d. St Kilda 11.18.84
Football Record claims that at one point during the second quarter the two sides had a combined score of 14.1, but match records dispute this.
