1950 and 1951 Under 19s defender and midfielder. Remained with the club through 1955, then joined Garfield. In 1957 he returned to play practice matches.

Played full forward for Horsham in 1962.

Brother of Collingwood's Dennis Le Gassick. 'Rick' was short for 'Eric', also the name of his father, who served as timekeeper for the Melbourne Under 19s and Reserves for 20 years until his death in 1968.
