The grandson of Collingwood premier rover Jack Beveridge was recruited as a forward/rover, but found opportunities limited in three of his four seasons with the club. He played 12 games in 1989 and won the Reserves Best and Fairest, but only appeared in three games the next season. That year he finished runner-up by a vote to teammate Rod Keogh in the Reserves grade Gardiner Medal.
Beveridge's best year was 1991, when he played 21 games, but he fell out of favour again the next year and appeared just six times before being traded to Footscray at the end of the year. After 31 games across three seasons he joined St. Kilda, where his father had worked as a recruiting officer, in 1996. There he played a further 45 games over four years, appearing in their 1996 night premiership side. He was later named in the Greek Team of the Century, qualifying through his maternal grandfather.
In 2001 he played for Frankston in the VFL, before moving into coaching. In 2006, Beveridge coached amateur side St. Bedes. After winning premierships with them in C, B, then A grade, he joined Collingwood as Development Manager, who won a flag the year after he arrived.
In 2012 Beveridge was an assistant coach at Hawthorn, and in the 2014 pre-season he took charge of the team for one game - a 130 point win. At the end of that season he was named Western Bulldogs senior coach, leading to them to their first premiership since 1954 two years later. He took the Dogs to a second Grand Final in 2021, but was on the losing side as Melbourne snapped their long premiership drought.
His cousin Luke Rounds played for Collingwood between 2009 and 2012. Beveridge's father John worked as a recruiting officer at St Kilda
