Not actually a Lloyd, but with the middle name "George" he earnt his nickname from the British PM Lloyd George. The Tasmanian centre-half forward impressed in a game with the reserves in 1943 but was called up by the RAAF and unable to play until he returned. He also suffered trouble with injuries during that year.
