June 1895 match vs Norwood

Saturday 1 June - MCG

Melbourne 3.4, 5.8, 7.12, 8.12
Norwood 3.2, 5.3, 5.6, 6.9

Goalkickers: Milne 2, McGinis 2, Sharp 1, Smith 1

Norwood rounded off a trip of Victoria that had been successful on-field but disastrous off with a loss. Gate receipts had been disappointing, gaining only 30p for the club against 200p of costs to make the tour.

Melbourne - wearing blue as a courtesy to their visitors - trialed a number of new players, resting champions like Fry and Moody, and the match was played in the spirit of a practice game - open and fairly.

Best was Christy, Healing and Hughes.
