Western Australian ruckman who chose Melbourne in 1954 after being courted by many Victorian clubs. He did not play in 1955, staying in Perth where he played until 1962 and won four All-Australian nominations. He played 26 games for his state, 206 games for East Fremantle, and coached them twice. In 1957 he won the Sandover Medal for best player in Western Australia, and was named in the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 1998.
