Milestones:
First game
Jack Collins
A third straight win to start the season sent the Redlegs, against all odds to 2nd on the league ladder, and for the third straight week they were the beneficiaries of poor kicking for goal by the opposition.
Despite dominating in the ruck the Saints missed out because their forwards were wasteful and rushed their attempts on goal.
Corbett, Tulloh and Makin were best.
It was the first time since a six match winning streak in 1915 that Melbourne had won three games in a row, but from 2nd Melbourne's season would collapse in a heap, they would not win another game and would win the wooden spoon.
