A four game losing streak finally came to an end in emphatic fashion, but at quarter time it looked like Melbourne were going down to yet another defeat. The wind blew strongly in the direction Geelong were kicking, and they made no mistakes in kicking four goals to one.
Fortunes were reversed in the second quarter when the home side kicked five goals to one to take the lead, and when Geelong failed miserably during the third term they were a lost cause.
Best were Young, J. Gardiner and McClelland.
