18-year-old forward who kicked four goals in a practice match in 1960 before returning to Horsham. Melbourne believed they had the inside running on signing him as he was coached by ex-Demon Colin Wilson, but on his parent's advice Wade instead signed for Geelong late in the season. The Cats had already tried to get his signature by encouraging his employer to transfer Wade to Geelong.

He went on to win premierships with both Geelong and North Melbourne, and holds the fourth most goals in VFL/AFL history.
