DOB: Unknown
From: Port Melbourne/Warriors/South Ballarat/Northcote
Well-travelled former MCC cricketer who Melbourne employed in a coaching role in 1907. The VFL refused to clear him as he had allegedly previously asked Essendon for money to play. When the Reds proposed that he would coach them anyway, the league threatened to take finals games away from the MCG and club management obliged.
Monagle had previously played for Port Melbourne and Western Australian side Warriors. In 1904 he was refused a clearance to South Melbourne and went to South Ballarat. He was again refused a clearance to South and joined Northcote.
