Played during the fortnight's break for state matches, Melbourne travelled to Shepparton and won comfortably due to their advantages in weight, height and system.
The combined team were good in parts but were also beaten comfortably in the air. They could have made a better start of the game, managing just one goal from from seven shots. Melbourne skipped away in the second, and while the Centrals outscored them in the third quarter the visitors had more than enough in the tank to win without raising a sweat.
Best were Craddock, Dockett and Rule. Lourey (knee) was replaced by McCrawley and Spittle by Nankiville during the first half.
The match raised 320p/16/6 for Mooroopna Base Hospital.
