Saturday 13 April - MCG
Melbourne ?.?, 14.3, 18.?, 20.12.132
Camberwell ?.?, 1.7, 5.?, 6.10.46
Melbourne win by 86 points
Goalkickers: Beames 6, Gillespie-Jones 6, Wartman 4, Gibb 3, Mueller 1
The VFA side had the better of the early play, kicking the first three behinds of the game before Melbourne scored, before they were easily swept away. Their backmen defended fiercely, but from the point where Gillespie-Jones kicked the first of his six goals the floodgates opened.
By half time the Demons were almost 13 goals in front, and Camberwell had the better of the game at the start of the third quarter thanks to the introduction of several new players but spurned their opportunities in front of goal. They managed to break even with four goals each, and restricted Melbourne to two majors in the final term.
Best were L. Jones, Beames and Gillespie-Jones.
