The 1980 Scholarship Squad member played for the Victorian Teal Cup side in 1981, and appeared in 19 Under 19s games across 1982 and 1983. He also played four Reserves games before deciding to put study ahead of football for two years.
Pappas returned to Melbourne in 1984 but didn't make the senior list. After stints at Moorabbin in the VFA from 1984 to 1986 and Boronia he retired after suffering a knee injury.
