Rookie listed after impressive performances at then VFL affiliate Sandringham, including a role in the 2006 premiership team and the 2007 Fothergill-Round Medal as the best young player in the competition.
Received two Brownlow medal votes in the Round 20, 2009 win over Fremantle, but was delisted at the end of the season. Valenti won both the Troy Broadbridge Medal for highest Melbourne vote-getter in the Casey Best and Fairest, and Ian Ridley Club Ambassador Award at the 2009 Melbourne Best and Fairest.
Valenti signed to play for Port Melbourne in 2010 and was the joint winner of that year's Liston Medal for best in the competition. He won the award outright in 2011 and played in Port's VFL premiership side that season.
He remained at Port until the end of 2014, then joined side Noble Park in 2015 but suffered a serious knee injury. In 2016 he played for Old Haileybury before returning to Port Melbourne in 2017.
