The Demons had been clinical in dispatching Essendon in round 1, but the football world wanted to know whether it was a one off - whether they could back up again after emotional tribute to Troy Broadbridge before the Round 1 match.
From the early minutes of the first term onwards, though, they were spectacular. Ten straight goals blew the game away, and at the 12 minute mark of the second term the Demons were 56 points in front.
The Bulldogs struck back, though, and with eight minutes left they were back to within thirteen points.
Best on ground Cameron Bruce, and Adem Yze then goalled to seal the match.
David Neitz was wasteful up front, kicking 1.4 but 5 goals for Bruce and 4 for both Aaron Davey and Russell Robertson compensated. At the other end Jared Rivers and Ryan Ferguson dominated the Bulldogs key forwards.
