With a top four spot on offer to the Demons, they were extremely disappointing and were rightfully thrashed by the Crows. Amazingly Melbourne started favourites, with the Crows having lost three games in a row. They were further undermanned by injuries, but it didn't seem to matter as Melbourne rolled over early on.
Clint Bartram suffered a season ending injury after playing all 22 home and away matches.
Brock McLean received a reprimand for rough conduct.
