Tasmanian recruit who played against Melbourne as part of a representative team before travelling to the mainland. He debuted in June 1890. Massey temporarily retired in 1894 due to a problem with varicose veins but returned in 1895 and played eight games in Melbourne's first VFL season.

Played for Victoria against Port Adelaide in 1893.
