The two time winner of Wodonga's best and fairest award as a full back had been pursued by several VFL sides before appearing in one of Melbourne's 1960 practice matches. Before the game he'd already informed the club he wouldn't be able to play full time due to education commitments at home, and left after the pre-season to play with his old side.
Melbourne included him on their senior list in 1961 despite him not having played any practice matches. He never appeared in a senior game, opting to stay at Wodonga. He returned for a third time in the 1962 pre-season but injured thigh muscles and never played seniors.
At Wodonga through at least 1968
