Wet weather returned for one of the rare times turning the season, and the home side took to it in far better fashion by racking up a huge score. If they could kick straight the beating would have been even more significant.

In the paper it was said that rain, hail or sunshine makes not the slightest difference to Melbourne, who turn up week after week to be trampled under foot and tro'den into the ground with apparent unconcern and it was suggested that it may be their last rites as a senior football club.
