The Demons rushed to a three goal lead by keeping the Crows goalless in the first quarter, but only managed three more for the rest of the afternoon.
Adelaide were inaccurate in the second, kicking 3.10 but they kept the Demons goalless to take the lead. The game broke open in the third quarter with Adelaide kicking six goals to two, and the first five of the last quarter before Melbourne kicked a late consolation.
