1935 Seconds Semi Final

Saturday 14 September - MCG

Melbourne 4.0, 7.4, 9.6, 11.8.74
Carlton 1.5, 4.8, 5.13, 9.16.70

Melbourne win by 4 points

Goalkickers: Feltscheer 4, Adams 2, Baggott 1, L. Smith 1, N. Smith 1, Ball 1, Truscott 1

With their streak of four straight Seconds premierships on the line in an elimination game the Reds were forced to battle all the way to keep their hopes of a fifth straight flag alive.

Had Carlton kicked better in front of goal they might have progressed to the Preliminary Final instead. They started well but were inaccurate, and Melbourne kicked the last four goals of the quarter to take a handy lead and were never headed again.

Carlton got within 14 points during the second quarter but as rain fell in the third term they trailed despite having more scoring shots - having racked up 5.13.

The Blues finally came to play in the final term and hit the front with minutes to play before Melbourne kicked the winning goal.

Best were Feltscheer, Truscott and Kinnear.
