Melbourne's fourth consecutive win continued their mid-season revival, and in their quest to get back into the top four they had to dislodge the Lions. After a close battle throughout the afternoon the Demons ran away with the game in the final term.
In wet weather Lance Arnold was Melbourne's best, marking everything that came near him in defence, and all of Don Cordner, Geoff Collins and Billy Deans were valuable contributors.
