May 1875 match vs Richmond

Saturday 29 May - Melbourne Ground
Crowd: 2000

Melbourne 3.?
Richmond 0.0 (half time 3-0)

Melbourne win by 3 goals

Goalkickers: Bob Sillett 1, Billy Kneen 1, Edwin Towle 1

Melbourne played with 18 men in Richmond's first ever senior match, but they were still dominant and the visitors barely get the ball past the halfway mark. The visitors failed to even put the ball behind Melbourne's goal for a behind. Sillett got the first goal shortly after the start of play, and after a number of attacks Towle and Kneen added a pair more before the half. The Reds also put on a number of behinds.

No further goals were added in the second half. Richmond soon realised they were outmatched and returned to the junior ranks.

Best were Goldsmith, Forrester and Loughnan.
