Saturday 14 June - Richmond Cricket Ground
Melbourne 4.12
East Melbourne 5.5 (half time 2.4 - 3.0)
East Melbourne win by 1 goal
Goalkickers: Coulson 1, McGregor 1, McAllister 1, Unknown 1
The East Melbourne junior club played with 23 against 20. The game was played on the RCG in a break of the soccer premiership season. At the time the game was the main winter tenant at the ground.
Melbourne suffered a surprise defeat against the juniors, going two goals down before Coulson scored their first. They quickly equalised before East - formerly known as Powlett - retook the lead going into half time.
Several of Melbourne's best players were watching from the stands, and though the Reds scored two more goals, so did their opposition. Melbourne narrowly missed a goal in the last minutes which would have seen them draw the match.
