Known as a pacy defender, the pre-VFL captain of Melbourne played between 1868 and 1875. Also served on the committee in 1885.
Also played for University in 1868 and 1869.
He captained the side for some games in 1875 but left for China in July.
Also wrote in The Australasian as "Fair Play" and was both a Victorian cricketer and a barrister.
