August 1875 Match vs Carlton Imperial

Saturday 7 August - University Reserve
Crowd: 3000

Carlton Imperial 0
Melbourne 4 (half time 0-4)

Melbourne win by 4 goals

Goalkickers: Utar Nicholas 2, Edwin Towle 1, Andrew Loughnan 1

Imperial's handicap was ruined when they had three players who couldn't make kick-off, and a further two who were injured shortly after the start of the game. This allowed Melbourne to do as they pleased, and they ran away to a four goal lead at half time despite starting the game kicking up hill.

The missing players turned up at half-time, and it helped Imperial keep their opponents scoreless in the second.

Best were Andrew Loughnan, Nicholas and Booth.
