The 25-year-old was signed for $60,000 after transferring to Victoria for work, and spent two seasons with Melbourne but missed the 1987 finals campaign when he reinjured his right knee in the Round 22 victory which sealed Melbourne's first finals appearance since 1964. He had already missed time with the injury earlier in the season, and the game at Footscray was his comeback.
After leaving Melbourne, Turner joined St Kilda for 1988, where he had an inconsistent career - playing 12 games in total over two years made up of the first six of 1988 and six more scattered through 1989. He returned for a season at Perth in 1990.
