Goalkickers: Smith 1, Carroll 1

On a heavy ground due to recent unfavourable weather, Williamstown set themselves for a rare win against a Melbourne side missing a number of their best players. They won the toss and kicked behind to start the game, before conceding the first goal to Smith after a McLeod pass.

The locals then equalised, but after a period where the ball was trapped in the middle in the ground Melbourne got back in front through Carroll. Williamstown equalised before half time, then went behind by two goals in the third quarter before managing to level in the last.

Best were Wilson, Carroll and McLean.
